Numbers released today highlight the overwhelming demand for the school choice program in Wisconsin. From all across the state, more than 2,415 parents applied to the program during a very compressed timeline. Across all sectors: private school parents, homeschool parents, parents enrolling a child for the first time, and current public school parents applied to the program. Public school parents alone exceeded the cap with more than 500 applications.

Forty-eight private nonsectarian and religious schools and school systems registered with the Department of Public Instruction by the July 26 deadline to accept students for the 2013-14 school year through the newly created Wisconsin Parental Choice Program. Schools registering for the statewide choice program include 15 private school systems throughout the state and nine schools that participated in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program in the 2012-13 school year.
